Focus Areas: Network Infrastructure and Communication systems standards, integration, development, implementation, and support.

Reports to: Systems & Networks Projects Manager

Job Description (Primary Responsibilities):
•Support systems and networks to facilitate daily operations as necessary. Act as primary or escalation contact as appropriate. / 35%
•Manage projects to integrate new practices and/or technology into the current networking environment, including documentation and training. / 50%
•Keep current with new technology by: following trade publications, attending classes, and hands-on experimentation. / 5%
•Other duties as assigned. / 10%

Duties:
•Support existing environment as necessary, either as primary contact or as escalation contact.
•Go onsite as necessary to facilitate projects or support issues for location across the country.
•Provide project management, implementation, and operational support for network/communications disaster recovery initiatives.
•Design, implement, and support facility infrastructure for different company locations.
•Develop and maintain current documentation for the networking environment at all times.
•Integrate new communications technologies into our environment.
•Weekly and Monthly updates to Manager.
•Act as project coordinator for internal projects and projects across departments or companies as assigned; working with other areas and project managers as necessary.
•Keep current with technology advances via trade magazines, seminars, and product testing/prototyping as necessary.
•Prototyping and testing new technologies that might be a good fit for our environment, and make recommendations for architectural changes.
•Develop and implement training for team / department / companies as necessary.
•Participate in and manage projects and exercises for disaster recovery.
•Maintain and develop systems and networks security model.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
•In-depth understanding of TCP/IP.
• In-depth understanding of Cisco Networking hardware and IOS.
•Working knowledge of Cisco IP Telephony Concepts
•In-depth understanding of Data Center design and maintenance.
•In-depth understanding of Facility wiring design and implementation.
•Working knowledge of EDI concepts..
•Working knowledge of Disaster Recovery concepts and applications.
•Proven ability to apply technology and process solutions to business problems.
•Proven ability to manage large and complex projects and issues.
•Proven trouble-shooting and problem solving skills.
•Proven team player, works well with other departments and with vendors.
•Experience in a large inter-networking or distributed computing environment.
•Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
•Proven ability to work independently to complete projects/goals.
•Excellent negotiation skills.
•Excellent presentation skills.
•Hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of the following software: Ghost, Visio, Microsoft Office Suite, PC Anywhere, TFTP Servers and clients, IIS servers, FTP servers and clients, Microsoft Operations Manager
•Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems, MS Windows NOS and familiarity with Active Directory.
•Basic understanding of the following hardware: Twinax terminals, twinax printers, twinax controllers, , Protocol gateways such as the BOS etwinax controller or Microsoft SNA Server, Thin clients, LAN and impact printers, ASCII terminals.
