General Purpose:

This position will be a manager level position responsible for developing the methodology and tools utilized by the company to manage multiple projects.  This position will not be directly responsible for managing projects, but will advise and serve as a resource to project leads. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain processes and methodology for managing the project portfolio, including:

 

§         Develop templates and assist in the preparation of business cases for potential projects, including documentation of requirements, calculation of projected costs and return, and assessment of project feasibility

§         Develop process to prioritize projects, including presentation to advisory committee(s) and Tech Sub-Committee of the Board of Directors

§         Analyze resource requirements and constraints to recommend staffing of projects

§         Develop and maintain schedule of projects, including establishment and reporting of deadlines and milestones

§         Establish process to identify and report risks and issues, and

§         Develop key metrics and status reports to provide periodic updates to senior management

 

  • Provide periodic updates to management on overall status of project portfolio, identified issues and risks, and actual results versus budget.  Develop reports to facilitate periodic reporting.
  • Provide project management methods, tools and training to empower staff to successfully manage projects
  • Research, recommend, and lead implementation of project management software to support project tracking and reporting
  • Prepare annual departmental budget, update with actual results, and analyze and explain variances

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelors degree from accredited institution
  • Five years experience as a project manager and/or manager in a Project Management Office, or similar relevant experience leading multiple projects
  • Familiarity with IT environment

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Strong working knowledge of project management methodology
  • Proficient using project management tools
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a team

 

Licensing and Certification:

 

  • PMI Certification preferred

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to travel and function in normal working environment.

 

 Percent Travel:

  • Less than 25%.  May require up to 50% travel during first year to learn business.
