The Command Center Security Engineer will maintain a high standard of data security in respect to industry standards and customer requirements. The Security Engineer will execute change requests and troubleshoot security related systems and network incidents to protect and safeguard customer data against internal and external theft, damage, and disasters.
Position Objectives:
- Deliver superior customer service through professional, comprehensive, and timely communication for all Incidents and Requests for Change
- Provide timely response, escalation, and resolution to promote the rapid restoration of services for all incidents
- Provide methodical and successful execution of customer change requests
- Maintain network stability through advanced troubleshooting, timely resolution of customer incidents, and proactive maintenance
Essential Duties:
- Identify, resolve, and escalate security issues according to procedural documentation and training
- Create or update documentation including security diagrams, procedures, and policies to ensure the organization is addressing the current threat landscape as it pertains to customer environments
- Provide guidance to adjacent support tiers to assist in resolution of complex network and system solution incidents
- Provide and obtain timely updates to/from relevant parties (internal and external)
- Monitor customer environments to quickly identify and resolve incidents
- Other duties as assigned
Critical skills:
- Previous security support experience in enterprise, IT or service provider environment
- Experience diagnosing complex issues through packet capture analysis (Wireshark, tcpdump, snoop, Sniffer Pro)
- Hands on experience including but not limited to:
- Virtual and physical security technologies (ie. Cisco ACE/FWSM, Checkpoint, ASA, IP tables, ACL etc.)
- Systems OS such as Unix/Linux Microsoft
- Configuring and supporting network or systems devices (routers, switches, servers)
- Intrusion detection support and analysis
- A commitment to delivering a superior customer experience through direct interaction with customers during support and change management
- Ability to quickly adapt to advancing technologies and procedural changes
- Proven incident and problem solving (troubleshooting) skills with an emphasis on a timely resolution
- Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with other technologists and business partners to maintain high service levels in a demanding environment
- Ability to work well in team environment
- Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills
Desired skills:
- Hands on experience with one or more of the following:
- Network and Systems technologies
- Network LAN and WAN (STP, Cisco Flexlink, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, QOS)
- Logical and physical ATM and Frame Circuitry
- Microsoft or Unix server OS
- Server Loadbalancer configurations and support
- Common web server applications (IIS, .net, Tomcat, etc
- Network and Systems hardware platforms
- Cisco routers and Switches
- Server Loadbalancers (F5, Cisco ACE, Inkra)
- Experience with Shell/Perl/Expect/PHP and/or other scripting languages, database administration, and/or web development technologies like HTML, XML, Java
- Familiarization with SAS-70 and ITIL guidelines and practices
- Technical certifications in areas of expertise (Cisco, Juniper, MS, ITIL, Nortel, Ciena)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in related fields
- Certificates of training in associated fields/equipments
