Data Warehouse Senior Architect

Summary:
The Data Warehouse Senior Architect will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Data Warehouse product.  This person will work within the Data Warehouse team and business departments and management to develop, deploy, and support mission critical Data Warehouse product.  This position is a unique opportunity to impact  business and be a part of the leadership to strategically plan and develop all aspects of the enterprise data warehouse solution 

Responsibilities:

 •Architects the Data Warehouse product and Data Warehouse lifecycle

•Designs and builds Data Marts to support the mission critical Data Warehouse application

•Designs and builds extractions and ETL processes

•Develops custom code and scripts to support the delivery and presentation of Data Warehouse

•Resolves Data Warehouse related production issues

•Creates data flows and conceptual models defining the informational needs of projects

•Provides leadership in logical/physical modeling and design

•Identifies systems of records and sources of data and extracts, massages, and modifies these assets in a manner consistent with overall architecture goals

•Lead the creation of business intelligence development standards and processes

•Consults with project sponsors regarding information flow and content, including the facilitation of information gathering sessions

•Assists in the development of project plans and deliverable lists for proposed projects

•Creates written reports of findings and recommendations on performance analysis, feasibility studies and cost justification statements

•Leads efforts to evaluate and select Data Warehouse components

•Manages, mentors, and guides subordinate Data Warehouse employees.

•Develops and maintains data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data dictionaries, data element naming standards and data dictionary metadata standards

•Coordinates activities related to data planning and recovery

•Leads and mentors development of team members using industry standard data management practices

•Assists Quality Assurance efforts to prove and validate the desired Data Warehouse solutions

•Participates in a collaborative team environment functioning within the SCRUM (agile) methodology

•Works with Business Analyst and/or users to understand business reporting requirements

•Designs, develops and implements business intelligence report objects supporting end user business requirements

•Guides business areas in identifying new data needs and delivery mechanisms for reporting information

•Establishes documentation of reports and data definitions

•Supports daily operations including job monitoring and troubleshooting of the Data Warehouse Environment

Skills Required:

 •Proven Data Warehouse data architecture and data modeling skills

•Able to express recommendations based on client desires, product architecture, cost, quality, and delivery timelines

•Able to mentor, interact, and ensure cross-team and cross-department cooperation

•Facilitation and coaching skills

•Basic math skills including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions

 

Education Requirement:

 •M.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology with 2 years experience in Data Warehousing or;

•B. S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology with 6 years experience in Data Warehousing

•5+ years presentation experience with products such as WebFOCUS, Cognos, Crystal, JasperServer

•5+ years SQL, Data Warehousing, and ETL

•2+ years of development experience using HTML, XHTML, JSP, Servlets, HTTP, HTTPS, and JavaScript

•2+ year of experience with web containers such as Tomcat, JBoss, or WebSphere

•Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as COGNOS, Crystal, Information Builders, JasperReports, or JfreeReport 

•5+ years of experience with Data Base Management Systems such as Oracle, DB2/400, SQL Server, Sybase, or MySQL

•Experience with TSQL or PLSql

•Must have worked in a heterogeneous environment and successfully integrated multiple sources or data

•Experience developing thin-client applications using Java

•Experience with building and deploying J2EE applications

•Experience with Linux and Windows

•Development experience with JDBC or object/relational persistence strategies
