Cycle3 IT Staffing is seeking a DB2 Data Architect for a contract opportunity.
The application DBA for this project is responsible for the data modeling and physical design of the warehouse tables along with the monitoring and support of the database, maintenance of batch stream and reporting and overall database performance.
The successful applicant should demonstrate strong working experience in database dimensional modeling designs and programming for a DB2 environment and will have proven ability to take ownership of critical tasks and see it through completion. Will be responsible for the design and implementation of the physical data model and the creation of all the relevant database objects and deployments of those objects from development to QA and production.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Design, create and maintain structural integrity of all DB2 database objects.
Responsible for monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database and performing query optimizations.
Enhancement and support of database maintenance streams (archive, purge, partition maintenance, reorgs, etc.)
Work with Data and Business Analysts to ensure requirements and source feeds will support the reporting use cases and database design.
Development and support of DB2 stored procedures utilized by the ETL batch stream.
Proven experience with large multi-terabyte DB2 installations on the DB2 DPF platform.
Highly skilled at database programming in SQL for DB2, query optimization, and schema design with DDL.
Proven experience with database dimensional modeling techniques and complexities including a solid understanding of the Kimball bus architecture for Data Warehousing.
Expertise in shell scripting or programming g in a UNIX/Linux environment.
Experience with scripting languages such as Perl or Python.
Strong analytical and design skills.
Understanding of Adhoc dynamic reporting tools like Business Objects or Cognos and tuning of queries generated from those tools.
Experience with the Erwin data modeling tool for physical modeling and forward engineering of DDL. Some experience with Erwin Macros would be a plus.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
