Summary:
The System Administrator is a unique position which requires
a diverse range of skills as well as an understanding of how to
participate in a team-oriented environment. This position
provides a range of services for corporate users beginning with
desktop support and hardware issues all the way to
maintaining vendor relationships and application support for
customized installations, both vendor-supplied as well as
in-house developed.
Responsibilities:
· Installing and supporting new server hardware and software
Infrastructure
· Ensuring that hardware and software systems are maintained
· Allocating network resources
· Providing technical support to users with very different levels
of IT knowledge and competence
· Ensuring the most cost effective and efficient use of resources
· Suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and
management problems
· Ensuring that all IT equipment complies with industry standards
· Trouble-shooting ranging from critical system outages to forgotten passwords
· Implementing and monitoring security measures and standards
· Training users – sometimes one-on-one, sometimes in groups,
and providing written guidelines and instructions
· Working closely with other departments/organizations to
analyze requirements or solve problems
· Planning and implementing future IT developments
· System maintenance and administration of internal networks
and public web services
· Monitoring and reporting system performance
· Participating in projects as a technical support knowledge base
· Work closely with other teams for problem resolution and
project coordination
· Operate in a leadership capacity by taking on a mentoring
role where appropriate
· Other duties and projects as assigned
Skills Required:
•5+ years prior technical support experience
•Strongly developed analytical and troubleshooting skills
•Good communication skills (written and oral)
•Knowledge and experience with Active Directory and
Internet Information Server
•Knowledge and Experience with high-end Microsoft
Windows based server platforms such as Windows 2000/2003/XP
and Microsoft SQL Server
•Extensive knowledge and experience with the BASH shell environment
•Team player with ability to learn complex technical material
Education Requirement:
•AS in related field or equivalent
•5+ years working with Microsoft Windows
