Cycle3 IT Staffing is seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer for a long term contract opportunity.

As a Senior Test Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for using your technical knowledge of professional concepts to test the quality of the application within a common development environment.  The Test Automation Engineer provides leadership and direction in executing agile test methodologies and automated processes.  The Test Automation Engineer possesses excellent communication skills and customer relations and will be required to collaborate with multiple development teams as well as Government and Functional representatives.  The Test Automation Engineer participates on integrated product teams to develop and implement standards and quality controls across continual releases.


This position requires a talented individual who is experienced in creating and maintaining automated test scripts and data, executing automated tests suites, and assessing and evaluating quality assurance test requirements to determine scope to be covered by automated testing suites. The Test Automation Engineer will also participate in code reviews of automated test code, and debug automated test codes, and mentor development and test team members regarding agile and test-driven design methodologies.  This individual will need to become intimately familiar with the web applications and requirements in order to determine the most efficient use of test automation and provide return on investment estimates.


We will rely on your leadership and innovative problem solving skills using a variety of Open Source and Enterprise level technologies. The Test Automation Engineer will be part of a development team which is responsible for all phases of an emerging agile software development life cycle. The Test Automation Engineer will be responsible for the transition and migration of existing automated test suites to function within a continuous integration environment, once available. In addition, the Test Automation Engineer will be responsible for standardizing automated test procedures and activities across multiple  product development and test teams.


Additional Tasks include:

Focus is on operational and tactical activities

Participates as part of the project test team(s)

Works with development and test teams to develop test cases, test processes and methods, and conduct test analyses and deliver results reports

Establishes and fosters one-on-one relationships within the development teams and Government customers

Develops strategies and work plans for own tasks

Prepares and delivers informal presentations to own team

Coaching and mentoring less experienced engineers

May assist with overall development of test standards, processes and procedures





Software Quality Assurance:

Experience leading small groups including defining, planning, assigning and monitoring work activities.

Experience collaborating with programmers and business(functional) experts.

Strong and proactive leadership ability

Strong communication skills with the ability to transcend the organization with appropriate levels of detail

Strong teamwork, decision-making, documentation and analytical skills

Experience writing black box and GUI test cases, designing test to mitigate risks, and helping business experts define requirements

Experience with scripting or programming languages and/or open source test tools in support of test-driven software development methodologies

Ability to work as part of a self-organizing team in which you determine your tasks on a daily basis in coordination with coworkers rather than waiting for work to be assigned to you

Ability to work without extensive direction to plan work and complete activities

Experience in context-based, exploratory, or scenario testing a plus

Experience using Integrated Data Environments such as Eclipse a plus

Experience using Agile development methods

Experience coaching Agile test teams required

Experience in context-based, exploratory, or scenario testing a plus

Minimum of 5 years experience in software development

Scrum master certification a plus

Test Automation:

Identify where task automation and process improvements can add value across the program

3+ years of development background with Java, distributed systems, web based platforms, etc.

Create and maintain complex automated test code, scripts, data, and associated drivers per recognized SDLC methodology (Waterfall, Agile preferred)

3+ years of experience building and executing automated tests suites

Experience with Ruby, Cucumber, Watir-Webdriver, Selenium, Java, JavaScript, Jenkins, SOAP and/or Junit preferred

Experience with the following:  SQL, XML, XML Schema, XPath, Unix and/or Windows

Experience writing simple SQL queries and insert/update statements and basic grasp of SQL / MySQL / Oracle or another relational database

Experience using basic UNIX commands

Experience designing, producing, executing, and maintaining complex automated test plans and test cases based on requirements and specifications

Experience assessing and evaluating quality assurance test requirements to determine scope of functionality to be covered by the automated testing suite

Experience maintaining documentation on automation modifications and updates

Experience with performance test tools a plus; NeoLoad, JMeter, and/or WebLoad
